UEFA has fined Tottenham and imposed a suspended ban on ticket sales to fans for away games, following Nazi salutes made by three supporters towards Eintracht Frankfurt fans. The club has been informed of the sanctions handed down by UEFA following the utterly abhorrent conduct of a small number of individuals at our recent Champions League away match in Frankfurt. The incident occurred on January 28 during the Champions League match at Deutsche Bank Park in Germany, which Spurs won 2-0. The governing body of European football justified the sanction due to the "racist and/or discriminatory behavior of its fans," specifying that the ban is "suspended for a period of one year." In addition to the suspended ban, Tottenham was fined €30,000. The London club, which reached the Champions League final in 2019, will also have to pay an additional fine of €2,250 for objects thrown by its fans. The English club reacted promptly, describing the conduct of the small group of fans as "absolutely abhorrent" and confirmed that it has already issued bans against the individuals involved. "We can confirm that the three individuals who made Nazi salutes towards Eintracht Frankfurt fans have been identified and received indefinite bans under the club's sanctions and bans policy," Tottenham stated. The club reinforced its position, stating: "The club firmly opposes all forms of discrimination and, therefore, has taken the strongest possible action. The repugnant behavior of a minority of so-called fans that night in no way reflects the values of our club and its supporters." It is worth noting that last week, Real Madrid also opened an investigation after a fan allegedly made a Nazi salute before the Champions League match against Benfica.
