After Pedro Neto Red Card – After Pedro Neto’s Red Card, Chelsea Coach Criticizes Indiscipline

Liam Rosenior, Chelsea's coach, was quite critical following the 1-2 defeat against Arsenal, identifying indiscipline and defensive fragility in set-piece situations as serious issues threatening the team's objectives, just ten days before their Champions League clash with PSG. After the final whistle of the game, which resulted in a home defeat to Arsenal, Liam Rosenior did not hide his frustration. The Blues' coach pointed out two main weaknesses that concern him: indiscipline, evidenced by the tenth red card of the season (this time for Pedro Neto), and difficulties in defending set pieces. According to Rosenior, these two issues could compromise Chelsea's aspirations, particularly in the Champions League, where the team will travel to Parc des Princes to face PSG on March 11 in the first leg of the Round of 16. "Collectively, and I myself as a leader, we need to take more responsibility for our disciplinary decisions and the plays in which we concede goals," the coach stated, considering that "certain decisions are simply unacceptable at this level." Rosenior emphasized that the problem cannot be solved just with fines, but rather by identifying the causes. "It's a problem of concentration and attention that we need to address. I know the club's record has not been good since the start of the season, and now it is getting worse," he lamented. The former Strasbourg coach promised to take action to correct the situation. "We absolutely have to do something. I need to talk to the coaching staff, the club personnel, and the players because this is not acceptable," he declared, adding that despite the positive aspects of the team's performance, these recurring problems could "cost dearly." Rosenior further analyzed the defensive failures. "If we do not correct the problems in set pieces that have started to infiltrate our game, as well as our disciplinary issues, despite all our efforts, we will not achieve our goals," he warned. The coach admitted that it is "difficult to accept" these mistakes, especially since the team worked on that aspect during the week, aware that it was one of Arsenal's strengths. In statements to Sky Sports, Rosenior summed up Chelsea's season succinctly: "Conceding two goals from corners and receiving another red card is the summary of our season." The coach refused to blame the players individually, stating that it is a "set of problems" involving marking, zonal players, and the goalkeeper. "I will not point the finger at any particular player. I will talk about it in training," he concluded.
