The former glory of Dutch football, Ruud Gullit, has harshly criticized the current state of the sport, even stating that he has decided to stop watching games. The remarks were made during his appearance on a podcast for the Dutch television station Ziggo Sport. Gullit, who won the Ballon d'Or in 1987, expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the evolution of football. "I decided to stop watching football. Football has become absolutely horrible," lamented the former midfielder, who played for clubs like Milan and Ajax. To illustrate his point, the ex-player mentioned the recent match between Arsenal and Chelsea. "I saw Arsenal against Chelsea, what a completely dull football match. I see players trying to force corners, trying to force throw-ins, I see ball boys ready to give towels to players," he criticized, showing little impression with current tactics, particularly the Gunners' strategy on corner kicks. Amid what he describes as a bleak landscape, Gullit highlighted a young talent as an exception. "I hope for players who dare to take on defenders again, someone like Lamine Yamal. I miss the joy. I simply no longer enjoy football," he lamented. "Everyone is just performing tasks on the field. Where are the players who dribble? Where are the players with guts? It's just pass, pass, pass, and pass again."
