Moroccan Federation Walid Regragui – Moroccan Federation denies coach’s resignation after CAN controversy

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has publicly denied the reports regarding the resignation of national coach Walid Regragui. The news, initially reported by the website Foot Mercato, indicated that the coach had submitted his resignation request. In a statement issued, the governing body of Moroccan football refuted the circulating information. "The Royal Moroccan Football Federation categorically denies the information published on some news sites announcing that Walid Regragui, coach of the National Team A, had submitted his resignation," the official note reads. Reports about Regragui's departure emerged after Morocco's home defeat in the CAN final against Senegal (1-2) after extra time, which caused significant controversy both on and off the field, and just six months before the 2026 World Cup. Morocco is preparing for its participation in the tournament, where it will be in a group with Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti. In the last edition, it made history by reaching the semi-finals after eliminating Spain and Portugal, with Regragui at the helm. Despite the official denial, RMC Sport reports that, although he has not formally resigned, the coach may indeed be inclined to leave the position. According to the same source, Regragui is said to be exhausted after a demanding CAN and has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia. Thus, the future of the coach in charge of the Moroccan national team remains uncertain.
