Franck Ribéry, former French international, has vehemently rejected allegations linking him to the files of Jeffrey Epstein and announced that he will file a criminal lawsuit against those responsible. The name of the former forward of Metz, Marseille, and Bayern Munich appears in an anonymous 2019 document, consisting of 38 pages, which is part of the files on the convicted American sex predator, released by the U.S. Department of Justice, according to the newspaper Le Progrès. In the letter, it is alleged that Ribéry was involved in the world of prostitution and that he attempted to assault a woman at his residence after obtaining her address. The 42-year-old former player categorically denies all accusations, labeling the document as fanciful and the result of a dispute between third parties. Ribéry, who represented the French national team 81 times and scored 16 goals, intends to legally pursue the author of the letter, whom he claims to have already identified, as well as all those spreading the allegations on social media. The former footballer argues that freedom of expression cannot justify the dissemination of false or defamatory information, emphasizing the negative impact the situation has had on his family. It is worth noting that in 2010, Ribéry was questioned in Paris as a witness in a case of aggravated pimping. Although the mere mention of a name in Epstein's files does not imply any illegal act by itself, several public figures have faced the consequences of its disclosure.
