Barcelona Joan Laporta – Laporta slams Dro Fernández’s agent: “A stab in the back”

The president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, harshly criticized Iván de la Peña, the agent of young midfielder Dro Fernández, who transferred to PSG during the winter market, accusing him of betrayal and hypocrisy. Just days before the presidential elections at the Catalan club, scheduled for next Sunday, the departure of Dro Fernández to Paris Saint-Germain remains a sensitive topic for the outgoing president, who is running for re-election against Victor Font. In statements to the Jijantes channel this Friday, Laporta did not hold back in his criticism of Iván de la Peña, the player's agent. "The case of Dro was a stab in the back. I was disappointed because I felt betrayed by Ivan," said the Catalan leader, who expressed particular disillusionment with the attitude of the former Barça player. It should be noted that Dro Fernández, a promising 18-year-old midfielder trained at La Masia, signed with the Parisian club until 2030. PSG paid eight million euros for his signing, a figure two million above his release clause. Since his arrival in Paris, the young Spaniard has already participated in six matches. Despite the harsh words directed at the agent, who also represents Luis Enrique, Laporta absolved PSG of any blame, emphasizing the good relations between the clubs. "Fortunately, we maintain good relations," he indicated, expressing satisfaction with the financial agreement reached. However, the bitterness towards De la Peña is evident. "He was someone special due to his past at Barça, but he showed us all his hypocrisy. We made an exception, but he committed a hateful act. He lied to us shamelessly," added Laporta. The president also revealed that the departure was poorly received by coach Hansi Flick, who "was giving him playing time."
