Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior spoke to reporters ahead of Saturday's home game against Newcastle in the Premier League, following a heavy 2-5 defeat to PSG in the UEFA Champions League during the week. The manager revisited the incident involving Pedro Neto, who pushed a ball boy during the match in Paris. "I watched the incident with him in Paris with the ball boy again. It doesn't look good. I understand what Pedro wanted, which was to get the ball back in play as quickly as possible. He wants to win for the club, of course, there are ways to do that. But what impressed me the most was – and it was his idea – that he wanted to apologize immediately. Whether it's a goalkeeper or me as a coach, we all make mistakes. The important thing is to learn from those mistakes and ensure they don't happen again," commented the English manager. Rosenior remains hopeful for a turnaround against PSG: "I don't prioritize any competition. The way we play, we want to win the next game. I've seen many teams turn around a 0-3 result at home in the Champions League. After analyzing the game, we saw that we have very good chances if we can score the first goal in the first half on Tuesday night, after the important game tomorrow." When asked if his options for goalkeeping are good enough, Rosenior replied: "Of course. I made the decision to put Jorgensen in against Aston Villa and his performance was excellent and contributed to a very good win against a very good team. His performance against PSG for 75 minutes was magnificent. He made a mistake, we were punished, and we lost the game in a way we definitely shouldn't have lost. Rob Sánchez is one of the best goalkeepers in the league. There is no doubt about the quality of these two players at this level." The manager also spoke about another incident where Enzo Fernández got upset with Jorgensen: "I saw the incident again. He is a passionate player who wants to win. Roy Keane, as a player, probably did that 20 times a game. I want a team with culture and responsibility. Enzo really likes Filip, but at that moment he was frustrated. It's nothing more than that." Rosenior commented on the new contract of captain Reece James, who renewed until 2032. "I can't stop smiling because we managed to secure the best player in world football in his position. He had many opportunities to leave this magnificent club, and the good thing is not just the size and prestige, but also the fact that he has grown up here since a very young age, believes in and trusts what we are doing and the direction we want to go. We had many conversations about this, and the fact that he signed the contract and gave us his trust is something extremely important. As long as I'm here, James will be my leader."
