Renato Paiva is the new coach of Santos Laguna, from Mexico.

The Portuguese coach has already signed a contract with the new club, valid for the next two seasons. The coach will travel to Mexican soil on the 24th, to begin his third experience in the country, after coaching Club León (2022/23) and Toluca (2023/24 and 2024/25).
Renato Paiva, 56, had been without a club since leaving the technical command of Fortaleza, from Brazil, last September. The former Benfica B coach is preparing for his seventh adventure in South America, where he has also coached the Brazilians of Botafogo and Bahia and the Ecuadorians of Independiente del Valle.
Santos Laguna finished the 2025/26 edition of the Liga Clausura in Mexico in 18th and last place, as in the previous year, and in the Liga Apertura, the first league of the season. came 11th, out of place in the play-offs.
