After leaving Luz without leaving a mark – and with only 12 games wearing the Benfica jersey – David Jurásek returned to Slavia Prague, where he stood out before moving to Portugal, and has gained a new lease on life, earning a call-up to the national team. The left-back was signed for €14 million in the summer of 2023 and sold three years later for just €3 million, plus an additional €1 million on a future sale, along with 50% of the remaining value of those future transfers. After arriving at Benfica under Roger Schmidt, David Jurásek made only 12 appearances, before going on loan to Hoffenheim in January 2024. The loan agreement was extended for another season, and he participated in a total of 34 matches in the Bundesliga. In the first half of this season, he moved to Besiktas, where he played 17 games. He eventually returned to Slavia, signing until 2029. A post shared by Česká fotbalová reprezentace (@ceskarepre) In the second half of the season, David Jurásek has played eight games for Slavia Prague, contributing two assists. The left-back's performances have convinced Czech coach Miroslav Koubek, and the former Benfica player is included in the squad for the match against the Republic of Ireland, part of the qualifying playoff for the 2026 World Cup. David Jurásek has 15 caps for the Czech Republic, having already scored one goal. David Jurásek did not take long to find happiness again at Slavia Prague and to win over fans and the coach. "He performed even better than I expected. He immediately fit into our patterns. It was clear that he knew what to do on the field. This is something we lacked throughout the autumn. We were practically attacking only from one side, so it’s great to be able to count on the other flank again. The full-backs are extremely important to our game, and that has been proven. Almost all the big opportunities came from the wings," explained Jindrich Trpisovsky, coach of Slavia Prague, in February.
