Bodo/Glimt pulled off a surprise in the UEFA Champions League by defeating Inter 3-1 in the first leg of the qualification play-off for the round of 16. At the end of the match, coach Kjetil Knutsen admitted that his team had some luck. With the Norwegian league about to start, Bodo/Glimt played three important matches in 2026, all with impressive results: 3-1 against Manchester City, 2-1 against Atlético de Madrid, and 3-1 against Inter. Despite the success against last season's Champions League finalist, Knutsen was concise and explained that the second leg will be very complicated for his team. "The game wasn't perfect, we didn't play a great match, we were even lucky with the result: we scored three beautiful goals, but we had a bit of luck. It was just the first leg, the second leg will be very difficult. We knew we were playing against a very good team," he commented about the match in a stadium that hours earlier was covered in snow. Bodo/Glimt, at home in front of 8,270 fans, won the first leg of the playoffs against Inter. 🔥 Magical Champions League nights. 🤩 Although the victory represents one of the most important in history for the small Norwegian team, Kjetil Knutsen calls for caution and is focused only on the second leg, which will take place on February 24. "The good part is that we go into the next game and I believe we have more to offer than we showed overall today [yesterday]," Knutsen stated. The victory was only the second for a Norwegian team against an Italian opponent in the European Champions Cup or Champions League, following Rosenborg's success, 2-1 against AC Milan, in the group stage in December 1996.
