Coach Oliver Glasner suggested that he may leave Crystal Palace soon, insisting that he is 'not good enough' to reverse the crisis at the club. His future at the helm is in jeopardy after Palace drew 1-1 in the first leg of the Conference League playoff against Zrinjski Mostar on Thursday. The London club has not won at home since November and has recorded only one victory in the last 15 matches across all competitions – since mid-December – falling in the standings to be just eight points above the relegation zone; they were also eliminated from the Cup by Macclesfield, a lower division team. Glasner, who arrived in February 2024, is the most successful coach in the club's history, having won the FA Cup in May – defeating Manchester City to give Palace their first trophy – and then in August the Community Shield – a victory over Liverpool. However, the drop in form, partially caused by injuries and the departure of influential Marc Guéhi to Manchester City (who had already been set to leave in the summer), coincided with Glasner's announcement in mid-January that he would leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires, a move he made to ease the atmosphere and try to bring calm to the team. This decision was made public last month, on the same day Guéhi transferred to Manchester City. At the time, the coach, who has already won titles, publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with the club's management decision to sell a key player in the middle of the winter transfer window without ensuring an adequate replacement, which further soured his relations with the owners, as there had been talk in October about preparing a contract renewal. His departure, however, may be brought forward, and Glasner himself is unsure if he will remain in charge until the end of the season, having said on Friday that he is struggling to manage the squad. When asked if he would fulfill his contract at Selhurst Park until the end, Glasner replied, 'We'll see,' adding that he does not consider himself good enough to integrate the new players that Palace signed in January. 'Right now we are not at our best. I understand and take responsibility for everything because I am responsible for the whole team. I simply am not good enough to replace the players we sold. Now I am just not good enough to integrate the new players in the right way,' Glasner said before the home game against bottom-placed Wolverhampton on Sunday. However, with results and performances showing no signs of improvement in recent months, some fans have lost patience with Glasner. From the visiting fans' sections during the game against Zrinjski Mostar, chants could be heard such as 'You'll be fired tomorrow morning' and 'We want Glasner out.'
