Mirassol, the sensation of the last Brasileirão, having qualified for the Libertadores, officially announced on Friday the signing of former FC Porto player Tiquinho Soares. The 35-year-old forward arrives on loan from Santos, with a contract valid until the end of 2026, and his original club will continue to support part of his salary. TIQUINHO SOARES IS WITH THE LION! 💪🦁 In Brazil, he gained prominence at Botafogo, where he was the top scorer and won the Brazilian Championship and the Libertadores. The athlete was at Santos and arrives on loan until the end of the year. Welcome, Soares! 💛 The striker, who will wear jersey number 29, has been in the city of Mirassol since last Saturday, where he was welcomed by fans at the São José do Rio Preto airport. Tiquinho Soares is a well-known name in Portuguese football. After starting his career at América-RN and playing for other Brazilian clubs, the 1.87-meter tall player moved to Portugal, where he represented Nacional, Vitória de Guimarães, and FC Porto. It was during his time with the Dragons that he experienced the most successful period of his career. Over three and a half seasons, he scored 64 goals and won five titles: two National Championships in 2017/18 and 2019/20, a Taça de Portugal in 2019/20, and the Supertaça in 2018. After his time in Portugal, the forward had stints with Tianjin Tiger in China in 2020 and Olympiakos in Greece in 2021, where he became a Greek champion. In the same year, he returned to Brazil to represent Botafogo, where he scored 44 goals and provided 17 assists in two seasons, culminating in winning the Brasileirão and the Taça Libertadores in 2024. Tiquinho Soares transferred to Santos in 2025 and made 40 appearances, scoring seven goals and assisting just as many. He now heads to the surprise team of last season's Brasileirão, which finished in fourth place in the competition in its first season after promotion and thus secured qualification for the Libertadores.
