Marquinhos revealed this Wednesday, in an interview with UOL, that a return to Brazil is a strong possibility after the end of his career in Europe, pointing to Corinthians as his preferred destination. The PSG center-back was formed at the São Paulo club, from which he left in 2012 at just 18 years old for Roma. The defender discussed his future, explaining that his contract with the Parisians is valid until June 2028, which means a potential return to Brazilian football could happen at the age of 33, an age at which he believes he would still be in top physical and technical shape. Marquinhos emphasized the importance of returning at a high level, especially due to the pressure associated with representing Timão. "I have two more years on my contract with PSG and then we'll see. If I return to Brazil one day, I want to come back well. And in Brazil, there is a lot of pressure, especially for the team I would like to return to, which is Corinthians. It's the club of my heart, where I grew up in Parque São Jorge. But I can't return falling apart," he stressed. It is worth noting that the player's time with the Corinthians first team was brief. He was sold to the Romans after playing only 15 official matches for his hometown club, in which he recorded one assist. The biggest title he won at the club was in the youth ranks, where he won the Copinha in 2012. Despite the short stay, his affection for the club remains intact. "If I ever return to Brazil, Corinthians will definitely be a priority. It's the club that opened its doors to me, where everything started. I have a huge affection and would love to wear that jersey again," he explained. The defender also recalled his departure, which at the time went against the wishes of then-coach Tite. "Tite wanted me to stay. An opportunity arose, and at the time the offer was very good, and the coach from Roma told me he would wait until the last day of the transfer market. Corinthians never let me go. Some market things happened, and I was sold. At first, it was a loan, but I started playing quickly, Leandro Castán had just arrived too, and everything worked out," he concluded.
