Nemanja Gudelj Issues Strong Message Amid Sevilla's Struggles in La Liga

Sevilla captain Nemanja Gudelj has publicly addressed the club's ongoing difficulties in La Liga after their 1-2 loss to Osasuna last Sunday. The defeat has deepened the Andalusian side's precarious position near the bottom of the league table, prompting Gudelj to use his personal Instagram account to communicate directly with supporters.

Sevilla, a club with a rich history in Spanish football, currently finds itself battling to avoid relegation in the 2025-2026 La Liga season. The team is enduring a challenging period marked by consecutive defeats and sits 18th in the standings, just below the relegation zone with 34 points. As captain and former Sporting midfielder, Nemanja Gudelj has taken responsibility for the team's underwhelming performances so far.

In his message, Gudelj acknowledged that the squad is aware it has not met expectations this season. He stated, "We assume responsibility for the critical situation we are in," highlighting the seriousness with which the players view their current predicament. Despite the difficulties, he expressed confidence and determination, emphasizing the club's stature and the need to restore its standing: "This is Sevilla, and its greatness demands that we pull the club out of where it is."

Gudelj also promised a strong response from the team in their upcoming fixture. Sevilla is set to host Real Sociedad at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium on Monday, a match corresponding to the 34th round of La Liga. He described the occasion as an opportunity to replicate the club's historic big-game spirit, even though the objectives differ this time around. "Monday will be like our great nights, although the goals are different. But the fight remains the same: the best for our Sevilla," he affirmed.

Real Sociedad, currently placed 8th in the league, will visit Sevilla having already secured a place in the Europa League by winning the Copa del Rey against Atlético Madrid. This context adds an additional layer of challenge for Sevilla, who must focus on securing points to improve their league standing and avoid relegation.

Looking ahead, Sevilla's immediate priority will be to halt their losing streak and climb out of the relegation zone. The upcoming match against Real Sociedad represents a crucial moment for the club and its supporters, with Gudelj and his teammates expected to demonstrate resilience and commitment. The outcome of this fixture could significantly influence Sevilla's trajectory in the closing stages of the La Liga season.
