Chelsea Sporting – PSG Requests Postponement of Match with Nantes in Preparation for Champions League

PSG has formally requested the postponement of their match against Nantes, originally scheduled for the weekend of March 14 and 15, in order to best prepare for their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Chelsea. Interestingly, Sporting has the same schedule as the Parisians in the prestigious tournament. This information was confirmed on Friday by the French Professional Football League (LFP), which revealed it had received the request from the Parisian club. The match in question, part of the 26th round of Ligue 1, falls exactly between the two encounters with the English side. PSG will host Chelsea at the Parc des Princes on March 11 and will travel to Stamford Bridge on March 17. According to the LFP's statement, Nantes has already given its consent for the date change. "In order to prepare under the best conditions for their double confrontation with Chelsea in the Champions League, PSG approached the LFP Board of Directors, with Nantes' agreement, to have the match take place in the week of April 20, 2026," the official note reads, adding that "the decision of the LFP Board of Directors will be known as soon as possible." This is not the first time a match between the two teams has been rescheduled due to PSG's European commitments. Last season, the match between the Parisians and Nantes, scheduled for the weekend of April 12 and 13, 2025, was postponed to April 22 due to the Champions League quarter-finals, where PSG faced Aston Villa (3-1, 2-3). The rescheduled match ended in a 1-1 draw.
