Fulham, managed by Marco Silva, who is nearing the end of his contract, has been trying for some time to secure the signing of Ricardo Pepi from PSV. In the winter transfer market, the English club made an offer of over thirty million euros, but PSV remained steadfast. Currently, the situation is different, and the transfer is now possible. According to Eindhovens Dagblad, the player will make the move to Fulham next summer for around forty million euros, including bonuses. Pepi is receptive to taking the next step in his career. After three seasons, he wishes to compete in a larger league and hopes to have his transfer completed before the start of the World Cup in June. That tournament, to be held in his home country, is, along with winning the title with PSV, one of his main goals for the coming months. For PSV, an early transfer also presents advantages. By having clarity now, the club will have timely additional financial leeway for the next summer transfer market and can act quickly in the market. In previous years, something similar happened: last year, the sale of Tillman brought clarity early, while PSV, a season earlier, had already generated revenue in the winter with the transfers of Gakpo and Madueke. Since his arrival at PSV, Pepi has become an extremely effective finisher. In three seasons, he has shown that he needs few opportunities to find the back of the net and, in relation to his playing time, has proven to be surprisingly valuable to the team. The American has played a total of 95 times for PSV, recording 39 goals and eight assists. On average, Pepi needed only 75 minutes to score a goal. This is even more remarkable because Pepi, during his time at PSV, was often affected by injuries, which prevented him from always having a guaranteed spot in the starting eleven. In his second season, he tore his ACL, while this year he unfortunately fractured his wrist. Therefore, he had to fight several times to regain his place in the team. It was precisely in his appearances as a substitute that he often proved his worth, with goals that frequently came at crucial moments. Fulham has also noticed this and is therefore willing to open their wallets.
