The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) plans to present the CAN 2025 trophy at the Stade de France in Paris this Saturday, before the friendly match against Peru. The decision comes despite the appeals jury of the disciplinary committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) awarding the victory in the final to Morocco by 3-0 on paper, taking it away from Senegal. At the same time, an appeal has been filed with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne. The FSF decided to proceed with the celebration, which was in doubt due to the controversial decision by the CAF. The official event schedule has already been released and includes a ceremony with guest artists and the trophy presentation before the match. A post shared by FSF (@fsfofficielle) It is worth recalling that the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, held on January 18 in Rabat, Morocco, was won on the field by Senegal 1-0 after extra time. However, the match was chaotic and was interrupted for several minutes. In stoppage time, a goal was disallowed for Senegal, and shortly after, a penalty was awarded to Morocco, leading most Senegalese players to leave the field in protest. The situation escalated with fans of Sadio Mané's team invading the field, resulting in clashes with security. The match eventually resumed, with Brahim Diaz missing the penalty in a 'panenka' style. In extra time, Pape Gueye scored the goal that gave the title to the Senegalese. However, on March 17, the CAF declared Morocco the winner by 3-0, based on articles 82 and 84 of the CAN regulations, justifying it with Senegal's exit from the field. Since then, Senegalese players have defended their victory on the field, with Pathé Ciss stating that they did not win 'by correspondence.' The CAS confirmed on Wednesday the opening of a process, and the Senegalese team is not giving up on celebrating. On social media, the FSF called for fans to be present at the Stade de France. 'While the CAS has not decided, buy your tickets and meet the African champions at the Stade de France on March 28,' reads a post. Several players, such as Habib Diarra, Yehvann Diouf, and Antoine Mendy, also recorded a video encouraging fans to attend: 'It's not just a game, it's the celebration of a people, of a continent. We will meet there, surprises await you, the story continues together.'
