The Ekstraklasa, Poland's top football league, will implement semi-automatic offside technology starting next season, following the example of competitions such as the UEFA Champions League, La Liga, and Serie A, which also use Hawk-Eye technology. According to journalist Tomasz Wlodarczyk, the chosen system will be fully integrated with the VAR system and the television broadcast of the matches. The same source adds that the implementation will also ensure that referees receive additional images provided by Hawk-Eye to assist in decision-making. The semi-automatic offside technology allows for instant identification of whether a player is in an illegal position, based on a detection system that identifies the body points capable of scoring a goal, thanks to a system of cameras installed in the stadium (in addition to those used for television broadcasting).
