Accounts Closed Last Decade – Accounts Closed: Benfica Led Portuguese UEFA Revenue in the Last Decade

A BOLA had already presented, in April 2025, a balance of the revenue obtained by Portuguese clubs in UEFA competitions over the last decade, but the figures for the 2024/25 season were estimated. Now, however, the official numbers have been released. This Thursday, the annual UEFA congress – the 50th, in this case – was held in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, where the financial report for the 2024/25 competitions was disclosed, aligning with the figures already presented by our newspaper. Thus, in the past season, Portuguese clubs amassed 159.7 million euros in UEFA competitions (Champions, Europa, and Conference League), with Benfica leading the pack, generating 71.4 million euros. Sporting secured 49 million euros, while FC Porto earned 16.5 million euros. SC Braga gained 13.4 million euros, and Vitória de Guimarães collected 9.4 million euros. With the accounts closed, it is worth taking another look at the 10-year balance. Between the 2014/15 and 2024/25 seasons, Portuguese clubs secured 1.3 billion euros through participation in UEFA competitions. Although FC Porto achieved the two best campaigns from a financial perspective – the best of all in 2018/19, when they received 80.6 million euros – Benfica was the Portuguese club that received the most money in the last decade, with a difference of 20 million euros. Sporting ranks third, with half the revenue compared to their rivals, in a list that includes 12 clubs.
