Twenty-four years after making his debut in the Premier League, James Milner has written another historic chapter. At 40 years old, the midfielder matched the all-time record for appearances in the competition (since 1992, excluding the old First Division) by being used by Brighton against Burnley. Milner now has 653 matches, standing alongside Gareth Barry at the top of the all-time appearances list. He was just 16 years old and earning around 320 euros a month when he started playing at the highest level. As a teenager, he became the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history, scoring against Sunderland at 16 years and 356 days old. His journey has taken him through six top-flight clubs: Leeds, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Brighton, where he currently plays, accumulating 61 caps for England, three league titles, two FA Cups, and one Champions League title along the way. Milner could surpass Gareth Barry on February 21 during Brighton's away match against Brentford.
