Maresca Praises Manchester City's Focus and Strength After Convincing Anfield Win

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca praised his squad's resilience and determination after a commanding 3-0 victory against Liverpool at Anfield. This win marked City's sixth consecutive league triumph, extending their flawless start to the 2026-27 Premier League season.

The match was played shortly after Manchester City were found guilty of 114 charges related to Premier League financial regulations, a situation that could have unsettled the team. Despite the significant off-field distractions and external pressures, City delivered a dominant performance on the pitch, with goals from Erling Haaland, Jérémy Doku, and Rayan Cherki securing a comprehensive win over their historic rivals.

Maresca highlighted his team's ability to "make their own noise," underscoring how the players focused exclusively on football rather than the controversies surrounding the club. This victory not only preserved City's 100% record but also allowed Maresca to match the best start to a managerial reign in Premier League history.

The result has important implications for the title race as Manchester City remain top of the table, extending their lead over their closest competitors. The emphatic win at Anfield sends a clear message to the rest of the league about City's intent and mental toughness amid challenging circumstances.

Key performances from Haaland, Doku, and Cherki showcased City's attacking strength, with Haaland continuing to be a pivotal figure in the team's success. The squad's composure and ability to execute their game plan in a hostile environment like Anfield further reinforce their credentials as title contenders.

Looking ahead, Manchester City will aim to build on this momentum as the season progresses, focusing on maintaining their winning streak and navigating the ongoing off-field challenges. Their upcoming fixtures will be critical in sustaining their position at the summit of the Premier League.
