This opportunity comes after Vitória has been without a club since his departure from Panathinaikos in September of the previous year.

His imminent appointment at Al Wasl marks a return to the Middle Eastern football scene, where he previously managed Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr between 2019 and 2020. Currently, Al Wasl sits fourth in the UAE Pro League standings, trailing the league leaders Al Ahli by 12 points.
