Morten Boesen, team doctor for Denmark, provided an update on Christian Eriksen’s health, ensuring that the player is well and that his pacemaker worked as expected, following the midfielder’s collapse this afternoon during the friendly match against Ukraine.

“Christian is fine and left the field on his own foot. From what I can see, the internal defibrillator went off as it should. He was inanimate for a few moments, but he regained consciousness very quickly and we were able to establish contact with him immediately», he explained.

Morten Boesen added that the player will now undergo further tests in hospital to determine the cause of the incident. The medical team maintains permanent contact with Eriksen and hospital professionals.

“Christian is fine and asked me to send his regards to all the players and say that everything was fine,” he concluded.

Eriksen fell clutching his chest in the 66th minute of the game against Ukraine, causing moments of panic — five years ago, during Euro2020, he suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch. Since then, he has played with an internal defibrillator.

The player talked to his teammates and hugged his wife before heading to the hospital. The match, which had been interrupted, was declared over.
