Heavy Penalty San Lorenzo – Heavy Penalty for Fans Who Assaulted San Lorenzo Players (Video)

Five fans of Huracán have been identified and sanctioned with the maximum penalty of a ban from sports venues by the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, after being involved in assaults on the San Lorenzo team. The incidents occurred just before the kickoff of the Clásico Porteño. As the San Lorenzo players were heading to the locker room after warming up, they were confronted by fans from the central stand of Huracán. The absence of a tunnel allowed the fans to get mere centimeters away from the athletes. The tension escalated when José Devecchi was spat on. Shortly after, verbal insults escalated to physical aggression, with a fan attempting to punch player Diego Herazo, an act that further inflamed emotions in a historically tense derby. Following these acts of violence, authorities managed to identify five individuals. They received the maximum penalty: a four-year ban from attending any sporting event. Additionally, the section of the Palacio Tomás A. Ducó stadium where the incidents occurred has been temporarily closed 'until the club authorities present a security plan.'
