The Brazilian Real Madrid - Good news for Endrick and... Paulo Fonseca

The Disciplinary Committee of the French Professional Football League (LFP) has overturned the direct red card shown to Endrick during Lyon's recent match against Nantes. The committee converted the sanction into a dismissal due to the accumulation of two yellow cards, meaning the Brazilian forward will serve only a one-match suspension.

Endrick, a Brazilian international currently on loan from Real Madrid to Lyon, had initially received a direct red card after a VAR review during the Nantes fixture. The referee, Mathieu Vernice, first issued a yellow card but then upgraded it to a straight red after consulting the video assistant referee. This decision sparked considerable debate and controversy within French football circles.

The LFP Disciplinary Committee conducted a thorough review of the incident, including video footage and the referee's report. The report itself suggested annulling the red card, and the committee ultimately agreed, replacing the direct red card with a second yellow card. Consequently, Endrick's suspension was limited to a single match.

This ruling is a significant relief for both Endrick and Lyon, managed by Paulo Fonseca. There had been concerns that the player might face a longer suspension of two or three matches, which could have disrupted Lyon's momentum and affected their attacking options. Endrick has been in good form, and his availability is crucial for the club as they continue their strong run in Ligue 1.

With the suspension reduced, Endrick will miss only Lyon's upcoming match against Nice. He is expected to return for the subsequent fixtures against Strasbourg on February 22 and the important clash with Marseille on March 1. Marseille currently occupies fourth place in the league, making that encounter particularly significant for Lyon's ambitions.

Currently, Lyon is enjoying an impressive streak of 12 consecutive victories, and retaining Endrick for the majority of their upcoming matches will be vital to maintaining their form and league standing. The club and coach Paulo Fonseca will be keen to capitalize on this positive development as they navigate the remainder of the Ligue 1 season.
