Former Liverpool Jordon Ibe – Former Liverpool player detained at airport for alleged assault

Jordon Ibe, former Liverpool player and England U21 international, was detained last month at Luton Airport, accused of assault. According to The Sun, the footballer, who currently plays for Lokomotiv Sofia, was questioned by the police and later released on bail, with a court hearing scheduled in Croydon for March 6. Ibe had returned from Bulgaria to attend court for another unrelated case. A police spokesperson confirmed the charge to the newspaper: "Jordon Ibe was charged with bodily harm. The charge relates to an assault that allegedly occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025. He was detained at Luton Airport on Friday, January 30, and taken into custody." It is worth noting that Ibe transferred to Lokomotiv Sofia in November, after a brief 17-day stint with Sittingbourne Town, a club in the eighth tier of English football. The player has yet to make his official debut for his new team. The move to Bulgaria, the 11th club of his career, represents an effort to relaunch his football trajectory, after admitting publicly in 2021 that he had been struggling with depression for four years. In 2016, Bournemouth paid Liverpool £15 million (€17.25 M) for his transfer, a record amount for the club at that time.
