In addition to attempted murder, Patrick Lacey, brother of Shea Lacey, who has made three appearances for Manchester United's first team this season, faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a shotgun and ammunition with intent to endanger life, grievous bodily harm, and conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm. Along with the former player, John Aaron Jones, 35, John George Patrick Hughes, 31, and Bernard Flynn, 61, have been charged with the same crimes. The four men appeared in court in Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton, and St. Helens on Friday. Patrick Lacey, who has not played professional football since 2023, has also pursued a career in boxing, where he holds a record of 12 wins and one loss.
