The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) demanded, in letters sent this Thursday to FIFA and UEFA, an exemplary punishment for those involved in a new case of racism against forward Vinícius Jr. The Brazilian entity requests a "thorough investigation" to identify and punish those responsible for the allegedly racist act that occurred last Wednesday at the Estádio da Luz during the Champions League. Following the report, the referee activated the racism protocol and interrupted the match for about ten minutes, during which a general confusion broke out on the field among players and coaching staff. In the official documents signed by president Samir Xaud, the CBF requests that UEFA "consider the testimony of the victim and those present, to identify and punish the individuals involved in the incident in an exemplary manner." The confederation also reminded UEFA of its own statutes, particularly Article 2, which aims to promote football without discrimination, and Article 7, which obliges the organization to implement effective measures to punish racial offenses.
