Artur Jorge's Arrival at Cruzeiro Postponed Due to Bureaucratic Delays in Qatar

Artur Jorge's arrival in Brazil to take over as head coach of Cruzeiro has been postponed due to unexpected bureaucratic complications in Qatar. Originally scheduled to travel on Friday, the Portuguese coach was unable to board his flight, delaying his plans to join the Brazilian Serie A club.

The delay stems from a local holiday in Qatar marking the end of Ramadan, which prevented the completion of all necessary travel documentation for Artur Jorge, who previously coached Al Rayyan. His initial itinerary included arriving in São Paulo early Saturday morning and then traveling to Belo Horizonte later that day to begin his tenure at Cruzeiro.

This postponement affects the club's preparations, as Cruzeiro had hoped for Artur Jorge to be present at their upcoming Brasileirão match against Santos on Sunday at the Mineirão stadium. However, the delay means his attendance at the game is now uncertain. Despite this, the club remains optimistic that the delay will not impact the start of training sessions under his leadership, which are planned for the following week during the international break.

Logistical challenges have also been compounded by a reduced number of flights in the region, a consequence of ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which complicates travel arrangements further. Cruzeiro is currently working to redefine the logistics to facilitate Artur Jorge's arrival as soon as possible.

Earlier, during the draw for the Copa Libertadores group stage, Cruzeiro's SAF vice president, Pedro Junio, commented on the coaching appointment, noting that while the deal was not finalized, it was progressing well. He expressed high hopes for an official announcement and anticipated that Artur Jorge would be present for the weekend match against Santos.

Looking ahead, Cruzeiro will focus on ensuring the new coach's arrival and integration into the squad ahead of the training sessions scheduled during the international break.
