Joan Laporta resigned as president of Barcelona on Monday, a necessary step to run in the elections on March 15. The decision was made after a board meeting, in accordance with the club's statutes, and Laporta will be temporarily replaced by Rafa Yuste, who was previously the vice president. Laporta's departure, aimed at his re-election, was formalized with the announcement of the electoral process that will culminate in the vote on March 15. Rafa Yuste, who served as first vice president and was responsible for the sports area, will lead the club on an interim basis until June 30. Several other board members also resigned to participate in the electoral process, including those from the Institutional Area and Social Area. With these departures, the board will continue to operate until the end of its term on June 30, but with a new composition. Laporta will now focus on campaigning alongside the other candidates who have already announced their intention to run: Víctor Font, Xavi Vilajoana, and Marc Ciria.
