After weeks of rumors and negotiations, Ralf Rangnick rejected an offer from Milan for the sporting director position and renewed his contract as the coach of Austria until 2028. In an interview with Sport Krone, the German discussed the talks with the Rossoneri and explained his version of the facts. “I said from the beginning that the renewal is a principled decision influenced by many factors. Among them, the question of who within my coaching staff would continue to be available. Therefore, I can now sit here and say with great satisfaction: the right decision is to remain in the position after the World Cup. Three weeks ago, there was an initial contact with Milan, and some conversations took place. I made it clear from the start that I wanted clarity before the World Cup, but there was still no clarity on their part,” he revealed. Rangnick was reportedly invited to take on the sporting director role and participate in the selection of the new coach, who could be Oliver Glasner. However, the process did not progress, and Milan changed direction. In recent days, Ruben Amorim’s name has emerged as the frontrunner for the position, and A BOLA confirmed that negotiations are currently very close to reaching a resolution.
