Sabri Lamouchi World Cup – Fired or Not? Tunisia Announces Departure of Coach… and Deletes Post

World Cup World Cup Fired or not? The Tunisian Football Federation shared a post on social media announcing the dismissal of coach Sabri Lamouchi following a heavy defeat against Sweden (1-5) at the start of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup. However, shortly after, the post was deleted, leaving uncertainty about who will be in charge of the Tunisian team against Japan. Despite the announcement, the Franco-Tunisian coach led training on Monday in Monterrey. The now-deleted post on Instagram stated that an “agreement for the dismissal” of Lamouchi had been reached. The thrashing suffered in the Eagles of Carthage’s World Cup debut seems to have been the last straw. It is worth noting that Lamouchi, who has been in charge since January, was already facing strong criticism before the match, particularly due to unconvincing results in the preparation games, which included another heavy defeat, this time against Belgium (0-5). In the same message that was later deleted, the federation indicated Mondher Kebaier – who has previously held the position and is currently serving as technical director – as the interim coach. After the defeat to Sweden, Tunisia still faces Japan and the Netherlands.
