Lionel Scaloni, the coach of Argentina, downplayed Carlo Ancelotti’s comments, the Brazilian counterpart, regarding the lower intensity of play from the Albiceleste, avoiding any controversy between the two teams. “There are non-favorite teams that play very good football. I believe it will be a World Cup of high intensity. Argentina may not play with as much intensity, but they play very well, standing out for their commitment, fighting hard, and defending aggressively. I believe the stars will not determine the World Cup,” the Italian had stated before the match against Haiti. When asked about his colleague’s comment, the reigning world champion’s coach sidestepped any controversy, stating that he understood what Ancelotti was trying to convey. “He said it in a good way. He didn’t say anything wrong. He said something good about us. He was speaking Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, all together. I understood that he praised us; he was not critical,” he reacted. “We need to understand what is meant when we talk about intensity. It’s hot, the players are tired. Nowadays, strong play in the midfield is where many games are decided,” he added.
