Tierney started in the Scottish Cup final between Celtic and Aberdeen, but had to be substituted in the first half after taking an elbow and seriously injuring himself. The scenes were frightening: Tierney suffered a fractured jaw, lost two teeth and was rushed off the field on a stretcher, with his mouth covered in blood. The player was immediately transported to the hospital, where he would theoretically undergo surgery.
However, it was a different story and Tierney was rushed out of hospital and joined the Scottish Cup final celebrations with his Celtic team-mates… despite suffering a broken jaw and missing teeth.
«Honestly, I couldn’t even feel anything, I took so much anesthetic. But it was practically a fairy tale. I had just arrived at the stadium and saw that the trophy hadn’t been lifted yet. I started running and went up the stairs,” he said, in an interview with The Herald.
