Gary Lineker, former England international and current sports commentator, has reiterated his conviction that Lionel Messi is a far superior football player to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking on The Louis Theroux podcast, the 1986 World Cup Golden Boot winner expressed boundless admiration for Inter Miami’s playmaker, even ranking him ahead of Diego Maradona, despite Lineker facing the late icon at the height of his career.
Lineker underlined Messi’s natural ability to operate at a level almost beyond human limits. «I always feel bad because people criticize me and say: ‘Ah, you don’t like Ronaldo’», he began by saying.
«It’s not that I don’t like Ronaldo… but there is no debate about who is the best footballer. Anyone who knows football will see that,” explained Lineker.
“He doesn’t have the talent that Messi has. Nobody has. But saying that is not an insult to Ronaldo”, he defended.
