Young Russian Footballer Danil Sekach Confesses to Murder in Moscow

Danil Sekach, a 20-year-old Russian footballer, has confessed to the murder of a businesswoman at her Moscow residence, acting under instructions from scammers, according to the Russian Investigative Committee (CIR).

Sekach, who has represented Russia at youth international levels and was recently part of the Ural Yekaterinburg B team, admitted to the crime and expressed remorse. The incident reportedly took place last Friday when Sekach arrived at the victim's apartment with the intention of opening a safe. Following orders from the scammers, he was then instructed to kill the apartment owner after she refused to disclose the safe's combination.

The victim, a businesswoman, was assaulted with multiple punches and stabs. At the time of the attack, her 16-year-old daughter was present in the apartment and was also deceived by the scammers, who impersonated police officers over the phone. After the murder, Sekach disposed of stolen items including money, jewelry, and collectible coins by throwing them out of a window. He also held the victim's daughter captive until the following day.

Sekach was arrested the day after the crime at a hotel approximately 14 kilometers from the scene. Prior to the incident, club sources informed RIA Novosti that Sekach had left Ural Yekaterinburg's B team a few days earlier, stating he was traveling to Moscow for studies. His football development included time at the Lokomotiv Moscow academy.

The young defender now faces a murder charge and could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison if convicted. This case has brought significant attention to Sekach's career and raises serious concerns about the circumstances leading to his involvement in criminal activity.
