The 23-year-old player’s injury occurred during a training session on Sunday, ahead of England’s opening match against Croatia, scheduled for Wednesday at 9:00 PM. Livramento’s participation in the tournament had already been in doubt, as he missed the last five weeks of the season due to a thigh injury. The full-back, who made his debut for the senior national team under Gareth Southgate in November 2024, played in five matches during Tuchel’s era, two of which as a starter. In the World Cup preparation matches, he came on at halftime in the 1-0 victory over New Zealand but did not leave the bench against Costa Rica. Trevoh Chalobah, who has one international cap, will only join the squad after the match against Croatia. The defender is on his way to England’s training center in Kansas City, and his call-up is only possible because, according to FIFA regulations, outfield players can be replaced in the squad up to 24 hours before the team’s first match in the tournament in case of injury or serious illness. Chalobah, 26, has not played for England since June 2025, when he completed 90 minutes in a friendly against Senegal (a 1-3 loss). However, he was on the bench for several World Cup qualifying matches under Tuchel. The situation at right-back for the England defense raises some concerns, as Reece James, Tuchel’s first choice for the position, is also facing doubts about his physical condition after a season plagued by injuries. The 26-year-old missed nine matches for Chelsea at the end of the season due to a hamstring issue. Among the other options already present in the squad are Djed Spence, who can play on both flanks, and Ezri Konsa, who, like Chalobah, is primarily a center-back.
