The Italian forward had practically everything set to sign a new contract with Cagliari, the club he represented last season, but failed his medical exams and physical tests, according to Corriere Dello Sport. The Italian newspaper reported that the test results did not convince the medical staff at Cagliari and jeopardized Belotti’s chances of returning to the Sardinian club. The 32-year-old forward suffered a serious injury on September 27, 2025, which sidelined him for seven months. Cagliari showed interest in having Belotti back… until they learned of the physical test results. The Italian international scored two goals in seven games for the club last season.
