They capitalized on the misfortunes of Deportivo La Coruña, who drew against Sporting Gijón on Saturday, Málaga, who drew 0-0 with Leganés, and leaders Racing Santander, who lost 0-2 to Real Zaragoza, to isolate themselves in second place, which grants direct access to La Liga, with two points more than Deportivo and one point less than Racing.
