Brentford’s Mamadou Sangaré Emerges as Premier League Star After £39m Move

Mamadou Sangaré has rapidly established himself as a standout midfielder in the Premier League following his high-profile £39 million transfer to Brentford from Lens in August 2025. The Mali international has impressed with his technical ability and relentless work rate, becoming a crucial part of Brentford's midfield this season.

The 24-year-old's rise began well before his move to England. Initially spotted by former Manchester City scout and agent Youness Bengelloun at Rapid Vienna, Sangaré was described as a "footballing alien" due to his exceptional skills and physical presence on the pitch. His journey took him to Lens for around €5 million before Brentford secured his services in what became the club's record signing.

Sangaré made an immediate impact upon his Premier League debut against Tottenham Hotspur, where he dominated the midfield and provided the assist for Keane Lewis-Potter’s opening goal. Since then, he has been a mainstay in Brentford’s starting lineup, featuring in every game this season. His performances have drawn admiration not only from fans but also from coaches and scouts who have followed his career trajectory closely.

His former international manager, Tom Saintfiet, who handed Sangaré his Mali debut against Mozambique in September 2024, praised the midfielder’s influence on the pitch, calling him "every manager’s dream player." This endorsement highlights Sangaré’s ability to excel at both club and international levels, underscoring his growing reputation in world football.

Brentford’s investment in Sangaré reflects their ambition to establish themselves firmly in the Premier League’s competitive midfield landscape. His blend of technique and endurance offers the Bees a dynamic presence capable of controlling games and breaking down opposition play.

Looking ahead, Brentford will aim to build on their promising start to the season as they prepare to face Brighton in their next Premier League fixture. Sangaré’s continued development will be pivotal to their success, with fans and analysts alike eager to see how far the Mali midfielder can push his game in England’s top flight.
