Newcastle's Amar Dedic to Avoid Sanctions After Police Bow and Arrow Incident
Newcastle's Amar Dedic is set to avoid club punishment after a police chase linked to him carrying a bow and arrow. He is expected to feature in the Premier League match against Fulham.
Newcastle United right-back Amar Dedic is set to avoid any disciplinary sanctions from the club following an unusual incident in which he was spotted carrying a bow and arrow in the Northumberland countryside. The situation escalated rapidly, triggering a police chase that involved an armed response unit, but the club has decided not to impose formal punishments.
The 22-year-old Bosnia international was seen with the bow and arrow near the affluent Darras Hall estate outside Ponteland. This sighting prompted a significant police response, including six patrol cars, which pursued Dedic back to his home. The involvement of armed officers underlined the seriousness of the authorities’ reaction to the incident.
Despite the police operation, Newcastle United have indicated that the player's actions, although unusual, did not violate club rules to an extent that would warrant disciplinary measures. The club’s stance reflects confidence that this incident will not negatively impact Dedic’s professional duties or his standing within the squad.
From a sporting perspective, this means Dedic remains fully available for selection. He is expected to start Newcastle’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Fulham on Saturday. This match is vital for the Magpies as they aim to sustain momentum in a competitive league campaign under manager José Mourinho.
The incident has attracted media attention due to its rarity—a professional footballer being involved in a police pursuit over carrying a bow and arrow is highly unusual. However, it has not affected Dedic’s relationship with the coaching staff or his teammates, who continue to value his contributions on the pitch.
Looking ahead, Newcastle will focus on their Premier League ambitions while seeking to move past this episode quickly. Maintaining the squad's concentration on football will be key as they prepare for the trip to Craven Cottage and strive to climb the league standings.
