Midtjylland’s English Lessons Fuel Record €62m Transfer Window Success
Danish club Midtjylland’s emphasis on English lessons has been key to their record-breaking €62m transfer window, underlining their sustainable model of developing and selling talent globally.

FC Midtjylland has achieved its most lucrative transfer window to date, generating around €62 million (£53.2 million) from the sales of two key forwards in a matter of 48 hours. The Guinea-Bissau striker Franculino Djú joined Trabzonspor, while Chilean forward Darío Osorio moved to Crystal Palace on a loan deal with an obligation to buy. This swift conclusion to major deals underlines the Danish club’s efficient and strategic approach to the transfer market.
This success builds on earlier departures this summer, including homegrown winger Aral Simsir and South Korean defender Lee Han-beom, who both transferred to Club Brugge for a combined €25 million. Since 2018, Midtjylland has amassed over €200 million (£170 million) through player sales, showcasing the effectiveness of their sustainable talent development and monetization model.
Central to Midtjylland’s achievements is their innovative emphasis on English language education within a squad that features 17 nationalities from five continents. This focus on communication has been instrumental in integrating diverse players and enhancing on-field coordination, giving the club a competitive edge in managing a multicultural team.
Technical director Kristian Kjær described the past months as “hectic,” highlighting the fast-paced nature of their transfer dealings and recruitment. Among the new signings is 20-year-old Venezuela international David Martínez from MLS side LAFC, reflecting Midtjylland’s ongoing commitment to sourcing promising young talent from around the world.
The club’s approach, combining off-field innovation with football development, not only streamlines player integration but also boosts their marketability and readiness for top-level competition. This strategic communication framework supports both player growth and the club’s financial sustainability.
Looking forward, Midtjylland aims to integrate their new recruits effectively while maintaining strong performances in the Danish Superliga and European competitions. Their record transfer window sets a benchmark for other clubs seeking to blend innovative management with sporting excellence.
