Justin Seven made a remarkable impact for West Bromwich Albion’s Under-21 side by scoring in the 77th minute just two minutes after entering the match in the 75th minute during their National League Cup fixture against Sutton United. This unusual coincidence of scoring in the minute that matches his surname has caught the attention of football enthusiasts and statisticians alike.

Occurrences of players scoring in a match minute corresponding to their names are exceptionally rare in football history. Seven’s goal places him in a unique category alongside a handful of players who have achieved this quirky feat, blending player identity with match timing in an intriguing way.

One of the most notable precedents is Didier Six, the French winger who played briefly for Aston Villa in the 1984-85 season and was known for scoring sixth-minute goals, aligning perfectly with his surname. This example has become a celebrated trivia highlight among football fans, illustrating how such coincidences can add an extra layer of interest to the sport.

Historical records also show other instances of players scoring goals in minutes that matched their names, particularly in Ligue 1 and Bundesliga matches during the 1970s and 1980s. These moments, though scarce, contribute to the rich tapestry of football’s statistical curiosities and storytelling traditions.

For the West Brom Under-21 squad, Seven’s timely goal is more than just a statistical oddity. It serves as a boost to the team’s morale and adds excitement to their National League Cup campaign.
