According to the newspaper Bild, Sven Bender, a former player of Borussia Dortmund, will be one of the new additions. Klopp’s team is expected to include his usual assistants, Peter Krawietz and Pepijn Lijnders. It is worth noting that Lijnders was Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City last season, after a stint at Red Bull Salzburg, following the German’s departure from Liverpool. The inclusion of Bender, 37, comes as a surprise, as both have a shared history at Borussia Dortmund. Under Klopp’s management, the former midfielder was part of the team that won the Bundesliga title in 2011 and the double the following year. Bender recently left his position as head coach of Sp Vgg Unterhaching, a club in the German fourth division, earlier this month. Prior to that experience, he worked as an assistant coach at Borussia Dortmund. The official presentation of the new coach, who succeeds Julian Nagelsmann, is scheduled for this Friday in Frankfurt, where he is expected to sign a contract valid until 2030.
